Principle Interaction Designer – Supply Change Management (SCM)
Pleasanton, CA September 2003 to present

Designed the user interface for Search, Time and Expense, Work Orders, and Bid Factors features for 8.8, 8.9 and 9.0 versions of PeopleSoft’s Services Procurement (sPro) product. This involves working with developers, under tight deadlines, to ensure features follow technical and business requirements, comply with standards and guidelines, and exceed user and customer expectations.

Conducted research for customer site visits. This included: writing interview guides, conducting customer and user interviews, synthesizing interviews and research data, developing process and work flow documentation, and presenting site visit findings to development and strategy teams.

Managed team of Interaction Designers in the development of the Create Requisition, Manage Requisitions and Approvals, and Administrative Setup features for PeopleSoft’s eProcurement (ePro) and Services Procurement (sPro) products. My team and I created designs in a cross-functional team environment in response to customer and user feedback.

Managed Oracle Pleasanton Interaction Design Internship Program. Responsibilities included: interviewing candidates, planning intern schedules, conducting design reviews, instructing interns in the UCD (User-Centered Design) process and mentoring.

Created poster of "User-Centered Design" process to communicate how the SCM User Experience team fits within the PeopleSoft development cycle.


Microsoft Corporation
Interaction and Information Designer
Redmond, WA July 2001 to August 2003

Designed information graphics for and project-managed the development of “Web Services 101,” interactive Flash presentation featured on .NET area of www.microsoft.com. Information graphics translate complex technical processes behind XML, SOAP and WSDL technologies into visual representations for a non-technical audience.

Created “Web Services 101” poster, designed to communicate principles of interactive Flash presentation in print format. Poster included in 2003 .NET collateral, distributed to business decision makers.

Created user interface and content information structure for http://dotnet Microsoft .NET intranet site. Site was designed to deliver content, community, and administration capabilities to a .NET field audience in a flexible and continually-changing environment. Responsibilities also included hiring and managing the relationship with outside vendor responsible for graphic design of visual interface.

Designed information graphics for and project-managed the development of “XML Web Services Using Microsoft .NET” poster. Poster illustrates to a technical audience how Microsoft .NET technologies are used in the implementation of Web services. 135,000 copies of poster were printed and distributed to Microsoft partners and customers. Poster was translated in multiple languages for worldwide distribution.

Developed suite of more than 40 technology icons representing Microsoft and industry technologies. Icons adopted company-wide in print materials, online materials and in executive-level presentations, such as the launch of Windows Server 2003.


Organic, Inc.
Information Architect
San Francisco, CA March 1999 to June 2000

Lead Information Architect for Macys.com (www.macys.com), managing a team of four designers in the development of Web site interface, site structure, functional specification and analysis of customers and their shopping behaviors. Web site designs resulted in an e-commerce Web site that offered over one million products to Macys.com customers in a friendly and easy-to-use environment.

Lead Information Architect for the development of Blockbuster.com Web site. Designed user-friendly registration process, Power Search feature, and stepped checkout process that enabled customers to easily find and purchase products.

FileMaker, Inc. (formerly Claris Corporation)
Interaction and Interface Designer
Santa Clara, CA October 1995 to February 1999

Designed menu and toolbar structure for FileMaker Pro 5.0 to enable integration with Microsoft Office. Created Web-based functional spec and performed extensive research into Microsoft technologies and interface standards. Menu and toolbar structure resulted in a more intuitive and consistent user experience.

Lead Interface Designer in developing FileMaker Pro 4.1 Instant Web Publishing Interface. Designs enabled novice users to easily publish a database to the Web without knowledge of a programming language.

Also designed wizard-like interface for FileMaker Pro Development Kit 4.0, created Macintosh and Windows interface for Claris Emailer 2.0, and developed visual interface for Claris OfficeMail 1.0.
